The Wheel of Light

Monthly Newsletter - June 2015

One of the most enjoyable and exciting aspects of the year has been a trine between Uranus in Aries and Jupiter in Leo. It started in February and has ongoing since then. In the midst of the challenges we face with Uranus square Pluto and Saturn square Neptune, this trine has given us the inspiration, creativity and confidence to respond to our difficulties with joyful optimism. This month Venus will conjoin Jupiter from the 24th and continue through early July. Together, they will trine Uranus during that period.

One of the activities that Jupiter in Leo should support us in is doing what we love and loving what we do. This can enable us to be spontaneous, playful and loving. Venus is the energy of art and beauty. Jupiter should expand both our appreciation of those qualities and, especially in Leo, promote our desire to express ourselves creatively. The connection to Venus could also bring an expanded desire to be romantic. In addition, Jupiter can help support Venusian traits of harmony, thoughtfulness and diplomacy.

The Venus-Jupiter conjunction brings together the two planets that the ancients called “the benefics”. This means that these energies offer delightful, enjoyable activities and experiences. I refer to this conjunction as the aspect of amazing grace. It provides the ability to perceive anybody and anything from their most positive and attractive potential. Our tendencies to be generous, considerate and accepting of others are very strong. The problem, however, is to see people or situations in ways that are completely idealistic. It’s not that the positives we see don’t exist. They do. But we might overlook or simply not take into consideration, qualities that are not enjoyable or beneficial at all. It’s one thing to perceive the higher qualities of a person. In addition, the other person may not even be aware of those qualities or, if they are aware, are they manifesting them? If not, we could be relating to a person the way we see them, or want them to be, rather than as they really are. Similarly, we could also be guilty of being gullible in accepting others as they project or market themselves and be completely taken in by what essentially is a false sense of who they are.

One possible manifestation of this aspect on the collective level could occur in the realm of international relations. Jupiter pertains to travel and its transits are often studied as a way of viewing interaction between nations. With the Venus-Jupiter conjunction we might assume that countries will see each other in a more positive light and start to develop the trust needed in order to construct positive, lasting agreements.

When we connect this conjunction to Uranus in Aries it gets even more interesting. By nature Aries is bold and courageous. It enjoys the excitement of diving into a new situation. Uranus spices this up by adding inspiration and the willingness to experiment and innovate taking things in new, uncharted directions. Collectively, this could lead to new alliances that serve to bring more peace and harmony to the world. Individually, this could enable us to feel more comfortable breaking out of old behaviors that keep us stuck or inhibited. We could joyfully embrace new experiences, new people and creatively employ new behaviors in expressing ourselves in playful ways. This is a good time to try out new hobbies or recreational activities. Even as we might see others in a positive light, the opportunity exists for us to see ourselves similarly.

I often talk about the importance of personal process work in order to feel more loving toward the self. At times, I’ve been asked how can we work toward that when we don’t love ourselves to being with. In other words, why bother? If we don’t think that we are worthy or feeling love or being loved, how do we find the motivation or resources to that work? We can start by giving ourselves the benefit of the doubt. We can dispel the doubt and quiet the inner critic. The Venus-Jupiter trine to Uranus enables us to see ourselves from new perspectives, to enjoy parts of ourselves we either hadn’t previously seen or appreciated. We can detach from old ways of relating to self and take steps to forge ahead in perceiving and developing new parts of ourselves or even familiar parts of ourselves in new ways.

There are other transits happening that will prevent us from getting carried away with an idealized image of ourselves or from not taking weaknesses and challenges into consideration. The Uranus-Pluto square, for example, keeps us honest and authentic. We can use the energy of late month and early August to open ourselves and our lives up to new activities, relationships and points of self-awareness in order to feel better about who we are and our life in general.

AriesAries (March 21-April 20)
Aries: Creativity, ambition and physical energy are extremely strong the first two weeks of the month. Late month could bring focus on home and family. This is a good time to be in touch with your feelings about domestic issues. Failure to do so could lead to hostility or contention directed at those closest to you.

TaurusTaurus (April 21-May 21)
Taurus: This is a wonderful time to be creative and playful. Entertaining others in your home could be enjoyable to others and fulfilling to you. Late month is a good time to break out of the box in your social life, being open to new people and sharing yourself with them in new ways.

GeminiGemini (May 22-June 21)
Gemini: The new Moon in Gemini on the 16th creates opportunity to take some alone time to get in touch with what’s going on internally. You could also feel a strong impulse to be social. However, being interactive without some type of alone time could leave you open to emotional vulnerability and hurt feelings. Internal first, then external.

CancerCancer (June 22-July 22)
Cancer: The full Moon in Sagittarius on the 2nd is a good time to get in touch with your feelings about employees or to become more aware of your own performance on the job. Three planets will be transiting through Cancer this month, so expect periods of heightened emotions. Growth can come from working on emotional well being this month.

LeoLeo (July 23-August 23)
Leo: A month of increased social activity could bring in new people and interesting opportunities. Growth comes from avoiding being competitive with friends or colleagues. This is a good time to show your leadership by showing your compassionate side as well as your confidence and courage.

VirgoVirgo (August 24-Sept 22)
Virgo: This month could bring periods of mental clarity and social adeptness interspersed with periods of confusion in either or both areas. This could be especially true in professional situations. Growth comes from integrated periods of introspection and analysis with periods of interactivity.

LibraLibra (Sept 23-Oct 23)
Libra: Relationships could take interesting and unexpected turns this month. Growth comes from staying in touch with your needs and not overextending yourself for others. With the proper interactive balance there could be fun and fulfillment for all.

ScorpioScorpio (Oct 24-Nov 22)
Scorpio: This is a good time for researching and planning long range financial goals. Most beneficial would be brainstorming or conversing with someone else after the initial work has been done. This can help avoid over thinking or analyzing to the point of confusion. Discussing emotional issues with an intimate partner could lead to deepening the physical connection in the relationship.

SagittariusSagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 21)
Sagittarius: This month continues the patterns of expansion and adventure that may have been prevalent for several months. The full Moon in Sagittarius on the 2nd can bring heightened emotional self-awareness and lead to deepening of relationships with others.

CapricornCapricorn (Dec 22-Jan 20)
Capricorn: This is a good time to begin to contemplate recent developments. This could pertain either to the inner planes, in terms of psychological clarity and spiritual growth, or the external planes in terms of relationships with friends or colleagues. Not necessarily a time to “do” as much as it’s a time to expand awareness.

AquariusAquarius (Jan 21 to Feb 19)
Aquarius: Fun, games and perhaps enhanced romantic interaction all highlight this month for you. Allowing yourself to engage in artistic or creative expression could bring personal enjoyment as well as some surprising manifestations.

PiscesPisces (Feb 20-March 20)
Pisces: Being creative and inclusive at work could bring a personal sense of fulfillment as well as collegial connections and closeness. In order to pull that off you might need to be thoughtful in your way of communicating with others, however. The risk is being misunderstood, not necessarily hurtful in what you say.
